Overview
Studio Meridian needed a digital home as considered as their buildings: generous whitespace, oversized project photography, and typography with room to breathe. We designed Structo as a reusable template around those values — every layout decision serves the work on display.
The result is a site that loads in under a second on mid-range phones, scores top marks on accessibility audits, and lets the studio publish new case studies without touching code.
The challenge
Architecture photography is heavy, and previous versions of the site buckled under it: 6MB home pages, layout shift on every project gallery, and a mobile experience that felt like an afterthought. The studio also needed filtering across 80+ projects without a page reload.
Our approach
We started with a performance budget — 150KB of critical assets, zero render-blocking scripts — and designed upward from there. Images ship in modern formats with explicit dimensions, galleries use native lazy-loading with blur-up placeholders, and filtering runs entirely client-side against a prebuilt index. Scroll-triggered reveals are handled with GSAP, gated behind prefers-reduced-motion.
“The site finally feels like our buildings: quiet, precise, and built to last.” — Studio Meridian
Deliverables
- Homepage, project index with live filtering, and case-study template
- Responsive image pipeline with automatic modern formats
- GSAP scroll choreography with reduced-motion fallbacks
- Accessible navigation, focus states, and semantic landmarks
- Editor guide so the studio can publish without developers
Outcome
Structo launched on schedule with a homepage under 400KB total. Bounce rate on project pages fell by a third in the first quarter, and the studio has since published forty new case studies entirely on their own.
